Learn Ogu / Egun Language @semasa 31 Dec 2025 264 views / 0 valid
For beginners, one of the easiest ways to learn a language is by associating letters with familiar objects, just as we do in English and Yoruba: - English: A – Apple, B – Ball, C – Cat - Yoruba: A – Aja, B – Bata, D – Dọ̀nè, E – Ẹjo We will now do the same in #Ogu language. The Ogu Alphabets The recognised Ogu alphabet includes: A B D E Ẹ F G GB H I J K L M N O Ọ P S Ṣ T TH U V W WH Y Z Alphabet Practice with Ogu Words • A — ÀVÚN (Dog) • B — BÉZÉPÀN (Toad) • D — DẸ̀PẸ̀ (Boy) • E — ÉGBÉ (Today) • Ẹ — ẸNẸ̀ (Four – 4) • F — FÚTHLÙ (Powder) • G — GÍTHÍ (Baboon) • GB — GBÁPẸ (Pawpaw) • H — HLÀPẸ́PẸ (Cockroach) • I — (To be introduced) • J — JỌ́YÍGBAGÒGÓ (Praying mantis) • K — KOKLO (Hen) • L — LÒKÍ (Gorilla) • M — MOLIKUN (Millet) • N — NÙKÚN (Eyes) • O — OPỌ̀ (Tiger) • Ọ — (To be introduced) • P — PÁPÁ (Duck) • S — SUPẸ̀ (Housefly) • Ṣ — ṢÍVÍ (Spoon) • T — TEVÍ (Yam) • TH — THEGỌ̀N ẸN (Crayfish) • U — (To be introduced) • V — VÀVO (Pepper) • W — WỌ́TÚPỌẸ (Fox) • WH — WHÈVÍ (Fish) • Y — YOVOZẸ́N (Orange) • Z — ZÁNGBÉTỌ́ (Ogu night guards / traditional security) Important Language Note In pure Ogu language, the letters I, Ọ, and U do not begin original Ogu words. Any word you find starting with these letters is considered borrowed or bastardised, for example: • AGỌ̀NSÁ, not Ọ̀GỌ̀SÁ • KỌ́GA, not ÌKỌ́GA • IWUKU, not HUKU
